Multiply
Multiplying Disciples in Our Community and Around the World
This phrase isn’t just a catchy add-on to our mission statement of Magnifying God together as maturing, ministering, and multiplying followers of Jesus — Multiplying our lives as disciples is a core part of our identity as followers of Jesus Christ.
From the beginning, the goal of our Great God has been to see people from every nation, tribe, people, and language reveling in the glory of His presence as a response to the Gospel message (Revelation 7:9-10). His missionary heart has been on display not just in the New Testament, but from the very first book of the Bible, where in Genesis 12 God tells Abraham that in him “all the families of the earth shall be blessed” (Genesis 12:1-3). This promise was fulfilled in the descendant of Abraham, Jesus Christ, who came to be a light to all the nations (Isaiah 49:6; Matthew 4:13-17). His last command to His followers before He returned to heaven makes His global purpose very clear to the church:
All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age. (Matthew 28:18-20)
Multiplying Disciples in Our Community
We’re committed to equipping our members to live as missionaries in their own neighborhoods, workplaces, schools and families throughout Greenville County. We want to reach the lostness around us with the message of Christ and invite others to join with us as we Magnify God together in response to the gospel. To hear our heart on this, take some time to watch or listen to the message “Multiplying” from our “Framework for the Future” sermon series.
Joining in the Global Mission
Since our founding in 1824, our church has a great history of joining in God’s mission of reaching the world with the gospel through sending and supporting foreign missionaries both from our own congregation and through the Southern Baptist Convention Cooperative Program, as well as through going ourselves on short-term missionary trips.
In recent years, we have traveled locally to Myrtle Beach, SC, Princeton, WV, and Southeastern KY. We have partnered with church plants in Boston and Utah, and have international partnerships in North Africa and South Asia.
If you’re interested in joining with Mountain Creek as we follow Jesus together by multiplying disciples here and around the world, connect with one of our pastors. We’d love to get to know you and share the hope of the gospel with others alongside you.
