Meet Pastor Cameron!

On September 1, Cameron Adkins officially began serving as our Pastor for Groups and Young Adults at Mountain Creek. Even though Cameron has been a member of Mountain Creek, we wanted to take this week’s blog for you to get to know him a little more.

Cameron has served as a Ministry Associate and as an Interim Associate Pastor at Metro East Baptist Church in Wichita, KS, where he worked primarily in adult education and discipleship. He led Adult Bible Fellowship leaders, coordinating equipping events, providing helpful resources, and encouraging teachers with consistent communication and prayer. He also coordinated the Wednesday night discipleship classes and welcome/greeting ministry teams during his time at Metro East. He has also served in a variety of volunteer teaching and leadership roles within the local church, teaching classes on books of the Bible and topical studies.

His desire in ministry is to help the believers in his care grow in spiritual maturity (Col. 1:28), to equip them to use their gifts to serve the Lord and one another (Eph. 4:11-12), and to do his part in reaching the unreached with the gospel of Jesus Christ (Rom. 15:20-21). He strives to serve the church according to biblical principles, always evaluating potential ministry approaches and methods through the lens of Scripture.

In his ministry at MCBC, Cameron hopes to facilitate a community in which young adults at Mountain Creek are able to find genuine fellowship with their peers, are being discipled through the faithful teaching of God’s Word, and are discipling and evangelizing others by serving the church and the community. He wants to help the young men and women at MCBC to understand and apply biblical wisdom to the important decisions that they are making in this stage of their lives. He also desires to continue the work of equipping and raising up Life Group leaders who love God and neighbor (Mark 12:19-31), and who will study, obey, and teach the Word of God faithfully (Ezra 7:10). Cameron looks forward to building relationships with each of the MCBC Life Group leaders, relationships in which they will be able to encourage, challenge, sharpen, and spur one another on to love and good works (Prov. 27:17; Heb. 10:24-25).

Cameron was born in Columbia, South Carolina, and spent the majority of his life in Rock Hill. For college, he attended North Greenville University where he completed a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Studies. He also graduated in December, 2019, with a Master of Divinity in Great Commission Studies, and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Biblical Studies with a focus in New Testament at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He hopes to write his dissertation on the topic of the pattern of church leadership in the New Testament and to complete his degree in May of 2026.

Cameron met his wife Katie when they were students at North Greenville University. They were married in January, 2019, while they were members at MCBC. They moved to Wichita, Kansas, in June, 2019, for Katie to complete her Family Medicine Residency and where Cameron served on staff at Metro East Baptist Church. They moved back to South Carolina in July, 2022, after three years in Wichita, and are thankful to be back in their home state and close to family as they prepare to welcome their first child, Eliana Grace Adkins, due on October 25. They are incredibly grateful for the leaders and members at MCBC and are excited to continue to magnify God together with each one of you as maturing, ministering, and multiplying followers of Jesus!
